Caticlan Airport

PhilippinesCebuBoracayBaguioManila

Boracay is great tourist spot in Philippines. The white sandy beaches, the cool blue waters of the surrounding sea and the lush greenery attract tourists from far and wide all through the year. The Caticlan Airport is one of the best ways to get to Boracay.

Caticlan Airport is located in Malay and is one of the busiest airports of Philippines. During the last few years, the number of passengers in this airport has gone up quite high. It is among the two gateways to the island of Boracay, which is one of the most frequented tourist destinations of Philippines.

One of the easiest and quickest ways to reach Boracay Island is by the air-route via the Caticlan Airport. Once you reach at Caticlan Airport, it is very easy to go to Boracay. Boracay is just around 30-40 minutes away from Caticlan. There are tricycles available outside Caticlan Airport which will take you to the jetty port in three minutes. From the jetty port, a boat ride lasting for about 15-20 minutes will take you to Boracay.

Airlines serving Caticlan Airport are:

  -   Asian Spirit
  -   Corporate Air
  -   Interisland Airlines
  -   South East Asian Airlines

These airlines have planes from Manila and Cebu and the flight hours vary around 1 hour or so.

The modernization of the Caticlan Airport is expected to start soon according to the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC).

The total cost of the airport project is expected to be somewhere around P5 billion. The project is expected to get completed by 2008. the upgraded Caticlan Airport will cater tourists from China and Korea with direct flights from these two countries.

The modernized Caticlan is expected to have a resort, a hotel and a mall to make the airport economically viable and easier for the tourists.

If the up gradation of the Caticlan Airport becomes a success, then it is expected to attract more tourists to the magnificent island of Boracay.
